Crime Victims Assistance

Crime Victims Assistance

About

The Victims of Crime Assistance program serves people with disabilities who are victims of crimes, or victims who became disabled as a result of crime.

The Ability1st staff provides crisis counseling and follow-up contact to offer emotional support and guidance; criminal justice support and advocacy to assist with all stages of the criminal justice process; and referral to additional resources in our community. We also offer independent-living skills training to assist consumers in developing safety plans and in teaching activities of daily living related to their disability.

Our VOCA staff, Kimberly and LaTunya (pictured above), work in the community, going to emergency shelters and conducting home visits to meet with those in need. On average, we see 25 new consumers each month.
