End of the Year Professional Forum

Tallahassee HS/HT students participated in an End of the Year Professional Event to celebrate the completion of a remarkable year. Students participated in a Professional Forum at the Center for Workforce and Economic Development at Tallahassee Community College. Students met with nine different professionals who represented diverse career opportunities. Each student and professional met one on one to discuss career opportunities, interviewing techniques and real life experience related to a particular career field. Various professionals from the areas of telecommunications, architecture, engineering, advocacy, crime prevention, computer graphics and entrepreneurship volunteered to educate and prepare students for their future.

In addition to individual time with professionals, students participated in a team building activity facilitated through the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering. Students used various materials to engineer the most effective clean up techniques to assist with an ‘oil spill.’ Students were required to work in teams and think creatively about how to best address this real life situation.

As the evening progressed, students had the opportunity to continue their discussions with professionals over dinner. The program concluded as all HS/HT students received their Certificates of Participation and seniors where recognized with a gift from the HS/HT Program.

Students are now ready to embark on exciting paid summer internships! This summer HS/HT students, armed with enthusiasm and professionalism, will gain work experience and mentoring in their field of interest. Thanks High School / High Tech for another great year!
