1st Evening of Comedy is a signature fundraising event for Ability1st and a perfect way to support the important services provided to individuals with disabilities living in the Big Bend community. Proceeds from this year’s event will specifically benefit our Ability1st’s Crime Victims with Disabilities program. This unique service provides crisis counseling, advocacy and support to women with disabilities who have survived domestic violence or who have become disabled as the result of being victimized. Women with disabilities are almost two times more likely to be the victim of abuse than non-disabled women. Ability1st counselors give these women the tools and support they need to conquer the overwhelming challenges connected to their disability needs and victimization, allowing them to rebuild their lives.
This year’s comedian, Chloe Hilliard will take the stage. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in a large Hasidic Jewish neighborhood, Chloe’s unique experiences paired with her quick wit are sure to leave you laughing. She debuted nationally on NBC’s smash hit “Last Comic Standing” and has since appeared on Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show,” and MTV’s “Acting Out.”
